Re: B-Flat mouthpiece
This brings to mind a story about a tuba player. Apparently, there was a tuba player who showed up for a rehearsal with a community brass band in my area with a C tuba. When rehearsal began, he asked for the “Bass Clef - Tuba in C parts.” He was not asking for the standard bass parts. He was asking for bass clef parts that were transposed down a whole tone so he could play B-flat fingerings on a C tuba.
As it turned out, when he was in high school, his family bought him a C tuba but he never learned the C tuba fingerings. His high school band director wrote out “C tuba parts” for him to use on all of the music!

My bass trombone is Bb/F/Gb/D. Do I need four mouthpieces when I play?
I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are still missing!

Re: B-Flat mouthpiece
I had no idea how I was going to do four mouthpieces. I thought I was going to have to get a four into one leadpipe adapter and move around like a harmonica player, but hadn't figured out how to cover the three mouthpieces I wasn't playing at the time. All I need now is a two into one adapter with a valve so I can switch on the fly. You are a genius!

Re: B-Flat mouthpiece
A small tenor player needs a mouthpiece with 7 different cup depths. If you have an F valve, you will need 13 different cups. Bass players with independent valves need 24 cups, plus an additional 2 for high G and F#.

Re: B-Flat mouthpiece
There's another one for the "new gizmos" thread: a mouthpiece with adjustable depths that compensates on the fly.
