DE combo that articulates most like an oboe
Wondering what combo would give effortless but expressive articulation similar in quality to the oboe. Ideally, would also produce a sound that floats easily above the low brass in any tessitura.
Doug any thoughts?

Got him.
Actually Doug is just mad because he didn't think of putting an oboe reed inside the bore like Griego did. If you look closely you can see it in the picture.
That's innovation.

Matt,
Do you really think a different mouthpiece would make your trombone sound (or "articulate") like an oboe?
Perhaps you should commission my oboist wife to make you a special reed!

He's bagging on the ad that just went up, and the subsequent bagging that went on there.

Don't know about an oboe, but a bassoon reed and bocal will fit. Then you can play PDQ Bach...

I suppose I’d settle for anything that sounds Teutonic.

Ah, I see - the classified listing for a Griego Oft alto mouthpiece. Missed that one.harrisonreed wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 4:28 pmHe's bagging on the ad that just went up, and the subsequent bagging that went on there.
Of course my playing produces a sound that sinks embarrassingly below all the brass in any tessitura.
More like passing gas, I've been told.

Step 1: Obtain Doug Mouthpiece w/small shank
Step 2: Put it in 2b
Step 3: Put original Shastock Mute in 2b
Step 4: Play a high-register ballad.
Boom. Oboe.

I've always considered the words "effortless" and "oboe" to be mutually exclusive.

I like your descriptions for the TU G cup:
TU G shallow, for euphonium doubling with a tuba rim...it works!

Oops, I see some stuff I need to update. I changed my numbering system for tuba shanks. There's probably more that I missed too.
