I have the Wick and a Humes & Berg Stonelined 199 Mic-A-Mute. The H&B is what I use 99% of the time, it's totally fine and I like the sound. Unlike my tenor Stonelined cups, it doesn't have any bad dead zones. But on classical cup obligations (it's been years!) I use the Wick.
I wouldn't mind having a nicer cup mute or two, but the Wick and H&B work well enough.

Re: Favorite bass cup mute
The HB171 Base Trombone Cup Mute does not fit my Yamaha YBL 620G. I am adding a layer of cork to make it bigger. The 620G only has a 9 1/2 bell but the bell does not taper very fast, so adding some extra cork seems to be the only way to make standard bass trombone mutes work on the YBL 620.

Re: Favorite bass cup mute
I just bought a Mike McLean Cup Mute off a forum member
LOVE It!! It`s a little heavy but it speaks in tune all the way down to pedal F
and has a handle on the side off the cup to make it easier to remove

Morningstar is great, btw. A bit heavy but it has all the notes and no quirks.

If anyone wants a Wallace bass cup mute, I've got one I don't use.

Re: Favorite bass cup mute
Being a gear head, I love having a bunch of mutes. I have to say, though- I just bought a Morningstar Cup Mute from Ilan Morgenstern with the copper bottom for tenor bone and it is 100/100 great... I can only imagine his bass bone mutes are that good as well.
