What is the next size larger than a 4G. Looking for a larger rim but same cup size if that's possible. Thanks for your help.

If you are looking for the same size cup but a larger rim, you are probably going to need to go custom. I know there are several makers that have a 4G rim with a 5G cup, but I have not heard of any having a 3G rim with a 4G cup.

Just a question, but why do you think you need a larger rim?

Easy to do in my system. That's pretty much what I use on large tenor. XT 104 rim, G, G8 or G+, G+8, or H, H8

3rd that recommendation. Been rocking a XT104N/G/G8 for almost 10 years.

Schilke M5.3 is in the ballpark, I believe.

Detach your notion of rim size from cup depth. DE or, maybe, the Alessi or Greg Black designs. I personally do not like the fat Alessi rim, but the design is solid. DE is my vote.

I was loving my now SEVEN year old C+/D3 mouthpiece in a big band rehearsal today, Doug. Brought a smile to my face.

.... Wait ... G+8??? Don't tell me there is a C+3 shank now?!? Noooooo....... 💰 🤌

No C+ shanks, I like the D shanks on a C+ cup.
But I do have new D+ shanks for the D+ cups, and G+ shanks for G+ cups.

The XT D+ cup matched with the XT D+4 shank is fantastic on a Bach 36. IMO.

I second that.

Nothing at all against DE, but Josef Klier also has a very good system with pieces that are well-made, economical and readily available (at least here in Germany).

I found that there are several other mouthpieces that will provide a step up in size from the Bach 4G. I used a 4G for years. I now have a Warburton 7 and the Wick 4BL both feel a little larger than a 4G. Of course I use a Doug Elliott LT 102G/G4 or G8 as well. There are even 3 series in Bach or Wick (and a Warburton 6).
