Preferences?

Pepsi or Coke. Sprite or Sierra Mist. Chevy or Ford. Shires or Edwards. Bach or Conn.
Everyone here will have preferences and none of them should matter to you. Mouthpieces really tend to hold their value. Buy what you think will work, don’t like it? Trade or sell.
Or even better, find a dealer that has a trial program. I think Dillons does.
Or best: go somewhere that all the options are and pick what you want. ITF is coming up soon.

Yep, everyone has an opinion on things, and they might not be the same situation as yours so don't ask.
I have at least one of both of those and they both are high quality. I use both for different horns, so I don't have a great comparison other than I wouldn't hesitate to buy either again. I think Griego is generally cheaper, but you can customize Greg Blacks easier so there is that.

They both make great mouthpieces, but also have very different business models. They both have fairly large product lines, but Greg Black has been in business far longer, and has a multitude of options, models, etc. Customization is also much more of a standard thing when compared to other makers out there.
There are also a bunch of other options out there. For me, I am a big Hammond fan, and also have a bunch of Laskey mouthpieces.

If I had to pick between the two I’d probably lean Towards GB. I’ve had a few pieces over the years that worked well for me, though none that I’ve kept in favor of my Elliott pieces. I’ve tried Griegos before and they never suited my setup. But everyone hit the nail on the head. Such an unbelievable range of options these days. You’re bound to find something that suits you if you follow that advice

I'm a big fan of both brands, especially the standard series (Griego Classic and Greg Black Symphony). I also love my several GB-Alessi's, however I've never been able to feel comfortable with the Griego-Alessi's rims...

What's the best mouthpiece? That's the wrong question, it should be: What mouthpiece do I prefer? Play as many as you can and don't be afraid to try a new one even if you find you don't like it. Settle on one and practice then perform.

The Griego NY mouthpieces work with all of my Conns. Real comfortable and have centered sounds.
