Does anyone keep in touch with, or know the current whereabouts of these members who were frequent contributors on the old forum?
Sabutin - Sam Burtis
RedHotMama
Euphanasia - Steve Close
Are they on the TC? Maybe I've missed posts, or they have another user name?

Euphanasia is now Doctortrombone, but I don't participate much lately--or at all.
What am I missing?

sam burtis is on facebook and was fairly active on facebook pedagogy at one time. (I'm no longer there.)
I haven't heard anything about RHM.

Quality trombone talk without all the ads that the Facebook chat groups have to deal with.

But what if you like fake ads for misspelled t-shirts with pictures of trombones on them?

If the pictures were actually of trombones, I’d probably have bought one by now tbh.
Cheers,

Steve,
Good to see your post.
I'm still very happy with the Olds
Studio that I purchased from you at a reasonable price in 2014 - at the start of my brief trombone collecting odyssey. Nice Dixieland trombone! (And good-looking, too.)

That would be RedHotMama (RHM); Christine from Luton.

Christine had a close financial relationship with Richard Byrd (she had loaned him a substantial amount of money to try to keep the old TTF afloat). She was upset with this forum, feeling it was "usurping" TTF and chose not to participate (we really weren't). I had some facebook contact with her after TTF went dormant, but haven't heard anything since the COVID epidemic.
Christine, if you are out there and reading this, come back. We do love you. Even Thanos. I tried to keep the Bunker going, but we just didn't have enough traffic.
I also miss pictures of her insect study objects.

Christine - thanks for jogging my memory Bruce.
I remember, maybe incorrectly, that she had loaned a considerable sum of money to a forum member for a business venture, and was taken advantage of. Maybe it was the situation you mentioned.
I may be confusing Bonesmarsh with someone else - if a post was contentious, I usually just kept scrolling.

One member of the old Forum that I used to follow was Graham Martin. He did come over here, but I haven't seen much of him lately.
We used to have a guy who was a tech in Canada who was always looking for a good valve trombone. I believe his name was Denis, but I forget his Forum Handle.
There were a few obnoxious folks who I don't miss. Especially when they went off in the political sections.

Hi Everyone,
I messaged RHM on social media. She wanted to say she is alive and relatively well. She isn't currently playing as Covid disrupted and eventually disbanded her Jazz band.
She said it was gratifying to know people wanted to know how she was doing.

Hmm? Years ago (1986-91), when I lived in the Cleveland area, I gave lessons to a trombone student when he was in middle school. His last name was Marsh and I heard he went on to be a military band musician and eventually a somewhat active professional player. He was…….how should I say this….a rather outspoken young man.
The chances are slim that it is the same person. This thread has got me wondering.

Wasn’t Bonesmarsh a former military bandsman who worked as a letter carrier and lived in Manitoba (Brandon?) Canada?

Maybe I just don't follow the same posts as Savio, b/c I haven't seen any activity from him! Love his bass playing!
And I miss Zak's rants! lol

Hi Bruce,
To tell the truth, I have been so busy with two new bands that I have not been visiting this wonderful Forum.
And now I have a really serious problem that may dictate my playing future. I had two falls, the last of which broke all the bones in my face and has pushed my bottom jaw to one side. So, my teeth do not align and also the top front teeth are dead.
I am going to a specialist next week who is going to check the reason for my falls. It may be Parkinson's. Although my own Doctor does not think I have this. Then I'll get my teeth fixed.
Although all of this sounds really serious, I do think I will be able to play again in the not-too-distant future. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Frankly, without my trombone playing, there isn't really much reason for life.

Yes, Leif is Savo but it was long time since I read something from him. I'm friends with him on facebook and there he's doing great. I know he took rests from both the old forum and this new one. Maybe he will return some day and read we miss him. Basbasun (Sven Larsson) isn't around much either but he's well too. I think I started to follow the old forum somewhere around 2004 and my username there was watermailonman. Since then many members have gone and some good guys have even passed. The forum has become much too anonymous and is now not much about sharing, as I see it. I remember I posted both videos and audio of my playing on the old forum and also continued on this one as it started AND I got valuable feedback from respected members. I was greatful and it helped me, but I wouldn't do that today. There are a few members left here from the old forum that I know of, and respect, but most of the new ones continue to be very anonymous to me. Even if the old forum could be harsh sometimes I liked it better. The community took care of unfriendly posters on the old forum

I'm still here, my English skills are as bad as before! LOL.

(an expression learned from my daughter) Wow....See someone from the old forum is still here. But miss Christine, Sabutin, Graham. And many more. I don't follow what's going on here as much as before, but I see that the questions being asked are mostly the same as before. About myself, I do the same as before. Teaches children, and loves having the opportunity to play the trombone.
