Yamaha Nils Landgren Equivalent
Been using a Nils Landgren on my small bore lately and like the sound, but would like something with more of a 5g size rim. What would be a good option?

My LT 101, C, C2 or C+, D2 are excellent, with a 5G size rim. The best backbore choice will depend on what specific horn your "small bore" is.

It's a 3BF so I'd assume the 3 backbore. How different are the C and C+ cups?Doug Elliott wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 1:30 pm My LT 101, C, C2 or C+, D2 are excellent, with a 5G size rim. The best backbore choice will depend on what specific horn your "small bore" is.

Just different enough... C is brighter and C+ is slightly fuller and more flexible/versatile.
For a 3BF I'd go with a C+ or D cup, either one with a D3 shank.
Depends on what kind of playing you're doing.

It would primarily be for jazz type things, so the C+ would probably be better. How easy is it to swap the parts, in case my needs change? New to the whole modular mouthpiece world. I appreciate the help

Easy to swap parts. The LT 101 rim will go on any LT series cup from A to I. There are large and small shanks, with backbore choices, for nearly every cup. I've been doing this for over 40 years and I know what works.
