Fellow trombone aficionados!
My quartet just released our debut album, posted below. We hope you enjoy!
FOLKS! Happy (belated) holidays, and big news! The Odyssey Quartet: Vol. I is LIVE!
We’re all incredibly excited to finally release this album. It was certainly a long labor of love, but it’s finally done and we couldn’t be happier to present our work.
After our 2022 IWBC competition win, we decided to use the prize money to fund this album. We were fortunate enough to commission a work by the great Christopher Sharpe, and his work is the title track of the album. “Never Enough Time” is meant to portray the journey of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and the varying results post-treatment. Having survived Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma himself, the work provides a unique perspective on this process. The work also bears personal significance in my life having lost my father George Bullion to colon cancer in 2020, and to Dominick F. Viviano having lost his brother Jimmy Hoef in 2022 to colon cancer as well. We hope you can hear how much this very personal work meant to all of us.
We continue to feature the incredible writing of Dr. Sharpe with his incredibly poignant work “The Secret City,” a work that musically represents the various stages of the Manhatten Project, of which Sharpe’s hometown Oak Ridge played a significant role.
A nod to IWBC’s funding, we’ve also chosen to record works from underrepresented composers. Our very own Jonathan Tang arranged Price’s string quartet beautifully, and we’re thrilled to play some small part in lifting womens’ voices through this arrangement. We also featured the writing of Rodrigo Lima on an incredibly challenging and unique work; Sonancia 1.
We sincerely hope you enjoy, and thank you for taking the time to read and listen!

Really enjoyed this! Congrats to you all - very interesting material and excellent playing…well done!
I looked up the composers…their stories are as interesting as the music. Thanks for the introduction!
Just coincidentally, I recently digested an excellent podcast on the history of The Manhattan Project - really made the Chris Sharp piece come alive for me.
